Digital Platform

Digital Platforms are virtual marketplaces that connect different market participants with each other and exploit economies of scale. In particular, they create the space for automated interactions in a multi-sided environment where one market participant can take on one or more roles, for example, the role of both buyer and seller. One of the other special features is that the network effect can address the so-called "long tail", so that a large number of actors can be addressed.
